AUTHOR'S BIO:
Keith Slater, a native of England, was educated at Manchester Grammar School and Leeds University to the Ph.D. level. He subsequently emigrated to Canada as a Professor of Textile Science at the University of Guelph. In his professional capacity, he holds six patents, has written fifteen technical books and some 300 scientific articles. He has also presented over 120 papers at conferences in 15 different countries. He is fluent, or moderately so, in English, French, German and Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese and Italian.
His extracurricular life includes theatre (about 70 roles as an actor in stage, radio, TV and movie productions, plus the same number as a director) and writing non-fiction; he has written a score of plays, three novels and about 30 short stories, with three short story collections of his work published. His hobbies also include sailing, photography, travel and an exercise class that he leads.
