AUTHOR'S BIO: Pam Ripling didn't know what she was getting into when she decided she wanted to be published. A bookkeeper by "trade" and a mother, wife and daughter most of the rest of the time, Pam dove headlong into electronic publishing when it became apparent that this, at last, was her ticket to stardom and notoriety. With a few romance novels already under her proverbial belt, LOCKER SHOCK! is her first venture into the Young Adult genre. Fueled by her two teenaged sons' experiences in junior high, Pam has created several stories portraying life as a young teen in today's uniquely challenging times. She hopes LOCKER SHOCK1 is the first of many.
REVIEWS/QUOTES:
Locker Shock presents an almost painfully realistic rendering of the difficulties faced by young people hovering between childhood and adulthood. The language rings eerily true, as though the author has spent a lot of time listening to the banter of junior high school age kids. Ben is a well-drawn, sympathetic character who pulls the reader into the story and makes her agonize over his problems. His circle of friends, with their personality differences, assorted emotional traumas and personal crises are also realistically rendered and very believable.... [a] heart-warming tale from the painful path to maturity. Four stars. -Reviewed by Karen McCullough for Scribe's World
"...the story works well because it is about relationships, and the relationships are carefully and insightfully constructed. It's a solid tale about an all-too-current topic." Georgess McHargue, eBooks for Kids
"...a valuable story. The characterization is superb of today's teenagers." Copyright © 2001 by Michelle Poulson-vick for Sharpwriter.com

The author spent many days listening to the banter of junior high school kids, thus completing her research for this particular subject matter, and touching the diverse backgrounds, moral principles, emotional distress, and personalities of kids today. It is a superb short novel. --Reviewed by Jennifer LB Leese, http://www.geocities.com/ladyjiraff/aswbr.html ASTORYWEAVER'S Book Reviews
