When she turned her head to look at the last page, the style of the codex changed. What had been ancient symbol after ancient symbol was suddenly interrupted by the image of two people looking off into the heavens. Emma stared at the picture, unable to look away from the aged text that must have been hundreds of years old. She was drawn to the image of the two people. A tall male figure with dark skin was standing next to a much shorter female figure who wasn’t painted, making her seem pale in comparison. The scene was a night sky with stars and a flying Quetzalcoatl bird above them, although that wasn’t what mesmerized Emma. It was the hair on the female figure. Even after so many centuries had passed, the long swirls of hair were still vibrantly red, making the resemblance to herself undeniable.

Ismael pointed to the picture on the codex. “The writing here tells a story of two people who are opposite in their nature. Tall, short, dark, light. One from earth and sky, one from fire and water. They are being guided by Kukulkan, the sky God. He is the messenger from the stars and has come to take these two people to the edge of the Sixth Creation, the sixth stage of Earth’s existence. The calendar recorded by the Maya and others who lived on this land tells of a coming change in the world. Without the knowledge of Earth’s history to guide the change, all will be lost in the shift.”
